Perhaps, if I am very lucky, the feeble efforts of my lifetime will someday be noticed, and maybe, in some small way, they will be acknowledged as the greatest works of genius ever created by Man.

Hello, let me start this out by explaining a little bit about myself and my faith. I am an American Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Christian. I am heterosexual, engaged and I am in my mid 20’s. As a practicing Egyptian Copt I have a very good understanding of the deeper meanings of Christianity and the actual idea of how a Christian is supposed to act on their faith, not only that, but how the scripture is supposed to influence us as Christians. The words of Jesus are supposed to be at the forefront of our thoughts and be our guide in how we should treat others. This is meant for Christians.

With that said, let me just say I’m utterly disgusted with how western Christians treat the LGBT community.

As a Christian, it is your DUTY to accept others and love them for who they are. If you don’t do that, you aren’t doing it right, and you are not following Christ.

Jesus didn’t spend his time on earth persecuting others, he spent his time on earth going to the people who were alienated and persecuted and giving them comfort. If you think that hellfire preaching is going to reach anyone, you missed the message entirely. If you think telling people they are sinning and that you can “pray away the gay” you are twisting the words of Christ and are a hypocrite. And not only are you bringing shame to Christ, you are being a bad person.

True Christianity is shunning this flawed world, and finding inspiration through Christ. True Christians aren’t going to try and tell ANYONE they are sinning, because as a Christian you are admitting that you are a chief of sinners. You have no right to cast judgement because you are not the true judge.

Only God can judge a person, and only God can decide who is righteous and who isn’t.

Jesus never said anything about gays, Jesus never said anything about gay marriage. If Gay marriage gets passed, as a Christian you should be happy for them. Render unto God, what it God’s, and render unto Caeser what is Caeser’s. It isn’t our place to try and decide what’s right and what isn’t. As a Christian your duty is to be faithful and to follow the teachings of Christ.

Do you think Jesus cares if you eat a cookie that supports gay marriage? It’s not what enters a man’s mouth that defiles him, but what comes out of it.

As a Christian you shouldn’t blindly follow what other Christians are saying, because there are many deceivers, if you want perspective read your bible and meditate on the words of Christ. There is no other way for us. Christianity is about developing a personal relationship with Jesus, and following God. Nothing more.

You can’t say that anyone is sinning because you are going against God in claiming the power to judge others. In the Lord’s prayer we ask that God forgives us our trespasses as we forgive the trespasses of others. We shouldn’t be trespassing against anyone. We should not cast any stones. Jesus loves everyone, and I almost feel ludicrous having to explain this. Jesus was trying to guide us to enlightenment and salvation, and that path is through humility.

So with that said, if you Christian soldiers want something to protest and get all your jimmies rustled over, I suggest you look to the east, and start researching the treatment of Coptic Egyptians. Unlike most of the other churches of the world, the Coptic church which is one of the oldest in Christianity is one of the only churches that has always been persecuted. Since the Romans, and even now under Islam. Coptic Christians are still being persecuted and murdered for the sake of Christ. Most Copts are impoverished and are systematically persecuted by the Egyptian government, and so far the treatment is only getting worse under the current rule of the Islamic Brotherhood.

But when it comes to your neighbors here in the United States, be kind to them. Accept them and let them live their lives as they see fit, without judgement and love them because it is the only way to Honor Christ and his sacrifice for us.
